So, here’s how it works:
First of all, profile completeness is not determined by the number of activities you do. Rather, its customized for each one of you based on how many details you have captured in your profile. For example, if you have one sports entry and your friend has two, you can still have a higher percentage than your friend, if you have filled in more data for your one sports entry.
There are two terms we use a lot:
Categories: There are 7 groups across which you compile all your accomplishments: Academics, Supplemental Learning, Summer Activities, Sports, Music & Arts, Volunteering, and Internship/Work Experience. You’ll find these categories under the “Life Story: tab. We came up with the categories after interviewing close to 100 colleges and universities on what they look for in their candidates.
Entry: Any entry you add in any of these 7 categories. For example, adding information about your 8th grade year in your Academics tab, your soccer games in your Sports tab, your Drama Camp experience in your Summer Activities tab, etc.
And now, let me show you how to get your profile completeness to that 86%.

Make sure to add some pictures here. You’ll want to have a profile picture and a few pictures in your image carousel. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words, so why not showcase yourself with pictures of you in action?

This is where you compile your activities and accomplishments.

For each entry that you create in any of the seven categories, make sure you fill out every field including Awards, Summary, and other details. Write a few sentences about that entry in these fields.
-
Attach at least one file with each entry. It can be any record or certificate in PDF, Microsoft Word, or any other format. It can also be an image or a video! Let prospective colleges or summer employers see you making that game-winning catch, or performing at your recital, or helping out your community.
-
Adding an external link to your video on YouTube or Vimeo will also add bonus points.
-
And here is the best part: Getting at least one recommendation from your teacher for each entry will give you a big bump in your completeness number. And it will increase your points too!
Now you are thinking about how to increase your points, so check out our next blog post for that.
